Central SOEs Contribute to Development of Pillars of the Great Power

Updated: January 11, 2021

Chang'e 5 lunar probe

The returner of the Chang'e 5 lunar probe landed at the selected area in Siziwang Banner in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Dec 17, 2020, bringing lunar samples to the Earth.

The mission was China's first lunar sample-return mission and its most complicated space project to date. Technological innovation and key technologies developed during the project are expected to improve lunar exploration and contribute to future lunar research.

The Chang'e 5 lunar probe and the Long March 5 carrier rocket which put the probe into orbit were both developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Other central SOEs including China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation participated in development of the sub-systems.
