As China's largest LNG storage base, the base is a key part of the country's natural gas processing, supply, storage and marketing system. The first phase of the project included construction of 10 large-scale LNG storage tanks with capacity of 2.5 million cubic meters.

The base is expected to be able to handle six million metric tons of LNG annually, which will produce power equal to a reduction of 37.64 million tons of carbon dioxide and 668,000 tons of oxynitride per year.
Operation of the project is greatly significant in diversification of natural gas supply channels and guaranteeing of peak regulation in East China. It will also contribute to high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
