Gou said that under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's important discourse on developing relations with Africa, with a commitment to following the principles of sincerity, pragmatism, affinity and good faith and upholding the greater good in the pursuit of shared interests, Chinese central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have further strengthened their cooperation with Zambian partners in the power, transportation and industrial sectors with fruitful results and made positive contributions to economic development and the improvement of people's wellbeing in Zambia over the past years.
Noting that the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing will usher in a new journey toward the building of the China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, Gou said that the SASAC will thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the important speech delivered by President Xi at the opening ceremony of the summit, follow the guidance of the important consensus reached between the heads of China and Zambia, work together with Zambian partners to advance bilateral cooperation in the power sector, build higher-level and greener power projects with greater concern for people's livelihoods, push for modernization, and make greater contributions to the building of the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as well as a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
The Zambia Power Development Forum was jointly sponsored by the Zambian Ministry of Energy and the Chinese Embassy in Zambia and organized by Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina). It drew the attendance of senior executives from six Chinese central SOEs, namely China National Nuclear Corporation, China North Industries Group Corporation Limited, CHN Energy Group, China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd, China National Agricultural Development Group Co., Ltd., and PowerChina. Prior to the forum, Gou exchanged views with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema.
