COSCO SHIPPING’s subsidiary, China Ocean Shipping Agency Taicang Co., Ltd., has recently executed end-to-end logistics coordination — including port authorities, maritime agencies and shipping lines — to complete the port delivery task for a leading Chinese energy storage company’s project in Saudi Arabia. The project involved the export of over 1,500 ultra-heavy energy storage cabinets, each weighing approximately 43 tons.
Nearly 1,000 of these units were shipped using the innovative “road-to-water” model via Hefei Port, transferred directly to Taicang Port, and then loaded onto COSCO SHIPPING’s specialized vessel bound for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
To address the oversized cargo and tight delivery schedule, China Ocean Shipping Agency Taicang Co., Ltd. coordinated with COSCO SHIPPING to prioritize suitable vessels, and worked with Taicang Port to allocate dedicated berths and storage areas for new energy equipment, significantly reducing vessel waiting time and ensuring smooth transshipment. It also introduced an innovative “single-document” electronic handover system, streamlining the import/export process, including pre-declaration of hazardous goods.
Additionally, a joint weather and channel alert system was established to optimize loading, ensuring on-time sailing schedules.

In another project, China Ocean Shipping Agency Zhangjiagang Co., Ltd., also subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING, provided specialized services for the shipment of 74 energy storage cabinets destined for the Americas.
The vessel AAL KEMBLA, operated by AAL SHIPPING, called at Zhangjiagang to load the cargo. China Ocean Shipping Agency Zhangjiagang Co., Ltd. secured full shipping agency rights for this voyage and strengthened internal coordination to ensure smooth operations. Working with the manufacturer, it resolved issues related to complex export procedures and strict standards. The cargo was brought into port within 24 hours, with a dedicated stacking area and customized hoisting plan set up based on cargo characteristics. On-site personnel conducted regular safety checks.
The company also assisted customs authorities in establishing a “green channel” for faster clearance through pre-declaration. In cooperation with maritime authorities, it implemented a hazardous goods safety warning system to enhance the efficiency and safety of cargo handling.
