President Xi Jinping urged the international community to pursue a new approach to climate governance that highlights green recovery and pledged China's further commitments for 2030 to tackling the global climate challenge at the virtual Climate Ambition Summit on Dec 12.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Dec 11 presided over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to analyze the economic work for 2021.
“More efforts should be made to deepen system and mechanism reform to unleash the productivity and creativity of scientific research personnel, helping more of them concentrate on research,” Premier Li Keqiang said.
Premier Li Keqiang met with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Beijing on Dec 8, 2020 via video link.
Efforts should be made to enhance basic research and application-oriented innovation with new development concepts to build China into an innovative country, Premier Li Keqiang, also head of the National Science and Technology Leading Group, said at a meeting of the group on Dec 7.
"It is strictly prohibited to carry out repetitive and overlapping inspections, and inspection beyond authority. Formalism and bureaucracy must be avoided for the primary levels to reduce burden," Premier Li Keqiang stressed at the State Council's executive meeting on Dec 1.
